10 ways you can #helpLivhelp

There are many different ways you can #helpLivhelp in March and be the change that Liv wanted to be in the world. Here is a list of some ideas, don't forget to post them on social media and use the #helpLivhelp hashtag to spread the word. Thanks for getting involved xx

1. Pick up a piece (or two) of litter, take a picture

2. Make the change from shower gel to soap - using less plastic packaging (you'll also find soap can last longer)

3. Feed the birds - the birds struggle during cold weather and their natural habitat is reducing around them (usually because we are building on it), which can mean there are less food sources. So it's really important that we help them out, give them a good quality bird food - and don't forget the water!

4.  Have a look at the cleaning products you use, choose eco-friendly if you can (look for the warnings like in this picture - it's amazing how many products are actually harmful to marine life)

5. Join in with WWF's Earth Hour on 24th March at 8.30pm - it really couldn't be easier, switch your lights off for 1 hour. Last year over 9 million households in the UK joined in and this was one of Liv's favourite initiatives! By switching off your lights for a whole 60 minutes you can help save energy and help climate change.

6. Recycle more - we all recycle, but are we really doing as much as we possibly can? I know if I am out and about I am guilty of throwing rubbish into the litter bin without even thinking if I could take it home to recycle it!

7. Buy a reusable water bottle - and actually use it! Recycling is great but one step better is to actually buy a water bottle that you can use everywhere you go, that way you don't even have to buy the plastic bottles in the first place. It takes 17 million barrels of crude oil to produce 50 billion water bottles - and shockingly, only 23% of these will actually be recycled. Buying a reusable water bottle can also be better for your health as you will avoid BPA (a chemical that can leak from plastic and contaminate water and food).

8. Make a wildlife area in your garden and always provide a bowl of drinking water for them! A bug hotel, insect house, a small pond, stones for bugs to hide in, providing a bird or bat box, it all helps! Have a look at these tips from the RSPB for some great ideas.

9. Donate in Liv's name to the WWF using our Justgiving Site or donate by texting HLIV99 £(and how much you would like to give) to 70070

10. Don't forget to spread the word and post what you are doing on social media via the hashtag #helpLivhelp

#helpLivhelp

Olivia-Violet was bright, fun, caring and at the tender age of 11 she knew what she wanted to do with her life and how she was going to do it (she even knew the courses she would study and which Uni she wanted to attend). She would often proclaim that she was "going to save all the oceans".

Tragically in June 2017, Olivia (Liv) had her life cruelly taken away from her when a drunk driver mounted the pavement whilst she was walking to the bus stop after school. Liv would have been celebrating her 12th birthday this March, so we have decided to start a social media campaign that everyone can get involved in called #helpLivhelp - basically asking people to be the change that Liv wanted to be in the world.

By doing one small act we can help Olivia save the oceans - for example - picking up litter and using the #helpLivhelp hashtag to spread the word, feeding the birds, making a wildlife area in your garden, recycling more, using less plastic. People will also have the opportunity to help financially if they want to as we will be raising money for WWF throughout March.

Please subscribe and like our Facebook Page and we will keep you up to date as we get closer to #helpLivhelp

****Note this page is run by volunteers, sometimes we may unable to reply straight away, but we will endeavor to get back to you asap. We do not tolerate trolls or abuse.****
